The MUR20010CT is a rectifier diode array, a discrete semiconductor device that is used in a variety of circuits, most commonly in power supplies, DC-to-DC converters, and high current rectifiers. It is a bridge rectifier, meaning that it contains two regular diodes connected in series and two Schottky diodes connected in series, with all four diodes connected in parallel to create an efficient, symmetrical rectifying circuit.The MUR20010CT has a maximum repetitive peak reverse voltage of 200 VDC and a maximum forward current of 10 amperes. It is constructed in a TO-220 plastic package with staggered silicon chips for low thermal resistance and improved heat dissipation. The MUR20010CT has a maximum junction temperature of 175°C and a typical thermal resistance of 2.5 – 5.0°C/W for optimum heat management.The primary application of the MUR20010CT is as a rectifier diode, designing and producing a steady, low-ripple output voltage from an AC or pulsing DC supply. It is designed to be used in transformer and switched mode power supplies, line-powered equipment, DC-to-DC converters, DC motors, and other circuitry requiring high current rectification.The MUR20010CT uses a four diode bridge structure to create the symmetrical, low-ripple rectification, where each diode will be forward biased when the polarity of the applied voltage reaches a certain value, and the schottky diodes provide a low forward voltage drop when conducting current. This bridge structure allows both positive and negative polarity voltages to be rectified. The device also offers temperature reverse current protection.In operation, the MUR20010CT will transform AC (alternating current) voltage or pulsing DC voltage into a steady DC voltage. As the AC voltage is applied to the MUR20010CT, the diodes will alternately be forward biased, causing the current to flow through the device in one direction from the input to the output, creating a DC voltage. This rectification process will reduce power losses compared with resistive voltage dividers, providing clean and efficient rectification with low heat dissipation.The MUR20010CT provides economical, efficient, and reliable rectification for a number of power supplies and other DC-operated circuits requiring a high current capacity, low forward voltage drop, and temperature reverse current protection.
