MUR2560R Working Principle

The MUR2560R diode rectifier has two electrodes, an anode and a cathode. In a circuit, when the anode is connected to the positive terminal of DC power supply and the cathode is connected to the negative terminal, a forward bias occurs. In this condition, the diode conducts current from the anode to the cathode allowing for current to flow and providing a proof for connection of the two terminals. On the other hand, if the polarity is reversed, the diode blocks any current from passing from the anode to the cathode, thus protecting the circuit from any harmful reverse-bias.

The typical forward voltage drop of the MUR2560R is 0.65V at a maximum current of 4A and a maximum power dissipation at a temperature of 25°C. When used in a bridge rectifier circuit, the total peak forward voltage drop of the four devices is approximately 2.6V. The reverse voltage of this device is 60V.
