Whenever the vibration exceeds a certain level, the pendulum is deflected, which causes a variation of the impedance of the sensor. This variation is detected by the amplifier, amplified and sent to the control electronics. The control electronics compares the incoming signal to a threshold level and when the signal exceeds this level an alarm is activated and sent to the relay. If the input signal then falls below the threshold, the alarm will be released.

Apart from vibration monitoring it is also possible to use MVS-1517 (35) for shock monitoring. The pendulum is not only sensitive to vibration but to shock and impact as well. This shock monitoring application is especially suitable for truck and car shock absorbers. Here the shock absorbers are tested after the installation on the vehicle or during service. Whenever the shock absorber reach a certain level of wear and tear, the shock generated by certain static compression exceeds a set limit and the warning indicator is activated. This protects the vehicle from sudden break down.
