TVS (transient voltage suppressor) diodes are semiconductor devices designed to protect a circuit from a sudden electrical surge and overvoltages. MXP5KE13CA is a series of TVS diodes which is a three-terminal transient voltage suppressor diode that can protect the circuits from a transient overvoltage by clamping the voltage. It is available in both unidirectional and bidirectional types.

The major application field of MXP5KE13CA is to protect sensitive electronics from electrical surges. The device can be used in a wide range of protection solutions such as surge protectors, automotive applications, consumer applications, portable entertainment devices, and telecom equipment. It can be used to protect systems from overvoltage generated by power supply glitches, power cross or power-off transients, lightning related ESD, as well as electrostatic discharge (ESD).

MXP5KE13CA is manufactured with a low breakdown voltage and low clamping voltage. This feature provides superior overvoltage protection performance. When the voltage reaches the breakdown voltage, the device will turn on, limiting the voltage. When the voltage reaches the clamping voltage, the device will limit the current, and the device will turn off when the voltage is no longer applied.
