Function and Working Principle
NB671GQ-P is a highly-integrated DC/DC step-down switch regulator with a full array of integrated protections. By setting its internal control registers, user can adjust the variables of the output voltage and current, the operating frequency, and the allowed transient margins. It is a self-oscillating switching regulator, providing a fixed switching frequency or a synced frequency with a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal input.The NB671GQ-P works by first receiving a voltage signal then it will use a chopped-periodically signal compared with the voltage reference signal to control the switching. Then the current flows through two transistors Q1 and Q2 in NB671GQ-P. The resistance of the two transistors is regulated to controls the output voltage of the circuit.The two transistors utilise a power control stage, once the mosfet switch is shifted on and off, certain amount current is allowed to run through the device. But, at each switching period the power control stage modulate the current in the transistors to prevent big voltage fluctuations caused by the sudden changes of the resistance of the transistors. Meanwhile, the internal protection circuit could prevent from any external shorts or any overvoltage/low voltage situations, which could cause irreparable damage on the circuit.
