The IC features high efficiency, low no-load power consumption, electrolytic capacitor-friendliness and low electromagnetic interference (EMI). It is exclusively designed for offline applications and can be used in a wide range of applications including desktop computers, set-top boxes, displays, digital TVs and HIDs, among others.The NCP1002P is a single-ended primary-inductor converter (SEPIC) controller featuring discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) operation. The primary-side circuitry features peak current control with an accurate stand-by current that extends to minimal power consumption levels in no-load input conditions. The IC also features an average mode control loop with an adjustable delta voltage technique, as well as a 100 Hz switching frequency. The onboard IC detector senses the primary peak current and has a programmable clamping voltage.The NCP1002P IC integrates all necessary functions for the implementation of single-stage flyback and forward converters, including a fixed 4.7V reference voltage and an on-chip supply to generate a regulated 3.3V gate drive output. The IC also includes an internal temperature sensing, thermal shut-down and disable functions, a soft start feature to minimize inrush current and a brown-out protection.The device comes in a compact 8-pin PDIP and 8-pin SOIC packages.
