It integrates an adjustable high-frequency Flyback converter control circuit, an Intersil N-Channel MOSFET, a voltage-mode pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller and a DMOS power switch. It has a minimum number of external components, which makes it ideal for medical, consumer and industrial applications. Application FieldsThe NCP1055ST44T3G is specifically designed for AC/DC power conversion applications such as point-of-load (POL) converters, SMPS, isolated AC/DC converters, offline switcher devices, inverters and DC/DC converters. It is well suited for products such as consumer appliances, consumer electronic devices, lighting systems, industrial products, audio amplifiers, TV sets, and PC notebooks. The device is designed to drive Intersil’s very low on-resistance N-channel MOSFETs and has an internal Noise Cancellation Circuit (NCC) that minimizes undesired leakage inductance noise. In addition, a constant-frequency current mode control loop is used to provide excellent line and load regulation. It enables efficient power conversion in a very small footprint and reduces the external component count.Working PrincipleThe NCP1055ST44T3G operates in either the continuous (CCM) or discontinuous (DCM) modes. It has an integrated current-mode control circuit with a programmable slope compensation that ensures quick and accurate response. In addition, an adaptive frequency hopping feature provides a good EMI/EMF filter.The device features a voltage-mode PWM that monitors the feedback voltage and adjusts the on-times of the external MOSFETs accordingly. To protect the device and its components, the NCP1055ST44T3G integrates various protections, including over-voltage, over-current, under-voltage, and short-circuit protection.
