The NCP1075STAT3G application field and working principle is an important topic related to PMIC (Product Marketing Interface) - AC DC converter, offline switchers. The NCP1075 from ON Semiconductor is a high voltage PWM controller, ruggedized with its ability to operate at temperatures as low as -55°C. The device has a fast transient response, and provides up to 7A of peak output current in a very small package. This application field is generally used for offline applications with low power ripple, such as power supplies and LED lighting. The NCP1075STAT3G is part of ON Semiconductor’s family of PWM controllers, and is particularly well suited to high-efficiency no-load applications, or AC-DC or DC-DC offline LED lighting applications.The NCP1075STAT3G provides protection against short-circuit, overvoltage, and desaturation. It has an undershoot voltage protection feature, which prevents the output from decaying below a certain voltage level.The NCP1075STAT3G also features monitoring of both input and output voltage by way of Analog and Digital Inputs, as well as Over Current Protection (OCP). The OC Protection is offered in both Instantaneous, and Programmable (VB1 and VB2) Modes. The device also has two configurable fixed blanking windows for output to ensure the optimal operation of the system. The NCP1075STAT3G device also has an Adaptive Off-Time Control (AOTC) which reduces system power losses by dynamically adjusting the minimum off-time (Toff) of the power switch. This reduces switching frequency and power losses in a DC-DC converter.Now let’s look at the working principle of NCP1075STAT3G. The device will enter a working state when the voltage level at pin 1 falls below the COMP voltage level. When the voltage at pin 1 reaches the COMP voltage level, the device transitions to the OFF state.Once the device enters the working state, it pulls the Gate voltage VGate to the peak voltage VDD(Rated)level, thus opening the switch and allowing current flow through the power switch. Once the switch closes, the output voltage rises until it reaches the overvoltage protection level. Then the NCP1075STAT3G will be switched off and will enter the OFF state.The NCP1075STAT3G has two comparators to ensure accurate current monitoring and protection from short-circuit and overvoltage. The first comparator is used to detect the peak current in the primary side and the second comparator to detect the peak current in the power switch.The NCP1075STAT3G holds a rich set of features to assure optimal operation under all conditions, and provide effective protection if any of the input voltage levels are exceeded or current exceeds the device’s maximum ratings. Its comprehensive protection level and intelligent switching algorithms make the NCP1075STAT3G an ideal choice for high-efficiency, robust AC-DC and DC-DC offline LED lighting applications.
