It features a high power factor and low output ripple/noise. Compared with traditional SELV/ULV converters, it has a lower component count and footprint, so it offers higher efficiency, low cost and better performance in general.Apart from its application in AC-DC converters, NCP1200AD40R2 can also be used for offline switcher operations, such as PC power supplies, external power supply applications, appliance control and medical equipment. It has adjustable output voltage and frequency, and its output current is up to 400mW. It also has a built-in PFC (Power Factor Correction) circuit, making it suitable for demanding power factor efficiency requirements.The working principle of NCP1200AD40R2 is based on the principles of SEPIC topology. It consists of three main parts: an AC power input, a power conversion section, and an output stage. In the power conversion section, incoming AC power is rectified by an input rectifier to get an intermediate DC voltage. When the voltage becomes high enough, a power MOSFET is switched on to pull the current through the primary winding of a transformer. This current is then used to generate a voltage pulse.
