NCP1216D133R2G Application Field and Working Principle

NCP1216D133R2G is a device belonging to the PMIC - AC DC Converters, Offline Switchers family. It has been designed to offer universal line input, low off-line power dissipation and low electromagnetic interference, along with Over-Current Protection,Under Voltage Lockout,High Voltage Shutdown and Over-Temperature Protection.

NCP1216D133R2G is suitable for universal mains applications such as TV, Household Appliances or White Goods, PC and mobile phone chargers, energy saving lamps and outdoor lighting such as street lights etc.

NCP1216D133R2G provides a backward compatible pin-out allowing designers to use previous devices as well. It provides a single output of up to 50W, meeting all IEC, EN and UL requirements with a low component count and well-suited to drives which switch relatively slowly. It features a wide operating temperature range and is available in the SO-14 package.

Working Principle

The NCP1216D133R2G is an off-line Switcher IC, which provides a high level of integration with current mode control and protection features. It uses a voltage mode PWM control technique to ensure good stability and performance. It is based on a fixed frequency current mode topology, which is optimized for low component count and small board space.

The NCP1216D133R2G has a single output voltage (70V) and it provides protection features such as Under Voltage Lockout (UVLO), Over Current Protection (OCP) and High Voltage Shutdown (HVSD), as well as Over Temperature Protection (OTP). The device can be used with a wide range of input voltages and can be configured to provide switching frequencies up to 200 kHz.
