The NCP1240ED065R2G is a highly efficient member of a new generation of AC/DC converters and offline switchers offering low power losses, high efficiency and low component count. This PMIC (power management integrated circuit) is designed to operate across a wide input range of 1V to 8V and to deliver up to 65W of output power to the load. It makes use of an innovative new Half-Bridge LLC resonant design which combines the simplicity of a flyback topology with the performance of a forward converter. This offers multiple advantages in terms of high efficiency, wide input voltage range, reduced component count, fast transient responses and low standby power consumption.In terms of applications, the NCP1240ED065R2G is suitable for a wide range of AC/DC converters and offline switchers including industrial lighting, consumer electronics, home appliances and anything else requiring power conversion of up to 65W.The NCP1240ED065R2G works on the principles of LLC (Loss-less Inductor Current), which is a novel switching technology that provides high efficiency, wide input voltage range, fast transient responses and cost savings. The Half-Bridge LLC design consists of two LLC coupled inductors combined with two MOSFET switches. The resonance of the two LLC LS inductors is employed to offer high efficiency and low component count compared to traditional flyback or forward converters.In terms of operation, the NCP1240ED065R2G is designed to work as a boost converter.
