NCP1251GEVB is a hassle-free evaluation board used to test and evaluate the new NCP1251GEV Buck controller IC from ON Semiconductor. The evaluation board offers a wide range of fixed and adjustable control loops to meet the application requirements including step-down (buck) and step-up (boost) modes. This evaluation board is perfect for high efficiency and low input and output voltage applications requiring the use of high frequency/high frequency (HF/HF), low output ripple, and low audible noise.
Application Field
The NCP1251GEVB evaluation board is used for a wide range of applications that require efficient, reliable and low-noise power management, such as telecom, automotive, consumer, industrial, and LED lighting. Working Principle
The operation of the NCP1251GEVB is based on the working principle of synchronous rectification technology to maximize the efficiency of the output. The NCP1251GEVB comprises a high-side switch (power MOSFET), a low-side switch (power MOSFET) and a driver IC (International Rectifier NCP1251) which performs the above functions. The NCP1251GEVB evaluation board features built-in over-voltage, over-current, and thermal protection functions to ensure robust and reliable operation of the system in case of a fault. Additionally, the evaluation board is provided with an external synchronization input (SIN) for tight timing applications, as well as an external voltage reference input for testing different types of applications.
After input power has been applied to the board, the NCP1251 driver IC will activate the power MOSFETs, switching the high-side switch, thereby providing an output voltage. Additionally, the adjustment can be fine-tuned by varying the frequency of the internal switching frequency. All of these adjustments can be conveniently carried out through the board\'s input pins using the symbols provided.
The NCP1251GEVB evaluation board also features a suite of diagnostic indicators which aid in troubleshooting malfunctioning circuits. LEDs indicate power-on, on-time, soft-start, over-voltage and over-current conditions for easy debugging. Simulations of the board may also be carried out to further assist in the development of the desired application.
