The NCP1254ASN65T1G power management integrated circuit (PMIC) is a low-cost solution for low power offline AC/DC converter applications. The device integrates all the necessary components for a complete offline-switched-mode power supply (SMPS) application in a single chip.

The NCP1254ASN65T1G is ideal for applications such as battery chargers, wall adapters, adapter-less devices, laptop power supplies and set top box power supplies. It offers a 125kHz internal oscillator and the operating frequency can be adjusted through external components. The current mode architecture is optimized for low-cost and small size applications while still providing high efficiency and excellent EMI performance.

Working Principle: The internal oscillator runs at a frequency of 125kHz. The operating frequency can be adjusted through external components, such as a resonant capacitor or a resistor. The current mode architecture is optimized for low-cost and small size applications while still providing high efficiency and excellent EMI performance for even the most stringent applications. The device features an ultra-low start-up current of less than 2 micro Amperes and supports up to 500mA of output current with an input voltage range of 85VAC to 265VAC. The output voltage is adjustable over a wide range and the device is protected from over-current, over-temperature and under-voltage conditions.

The NCP1254ASN65T1G also includes a unique integrated constant voltage control loop which ensures accurate output voltage adjustment and fast transient response. The internal output voltage reference accuracy is ±3%. The device also includes a line compensation loop which allows for good line voltage regulation and also improves the system efficiency.

The NCP1254ASN65T1G is available in a Pb-Free, RoHS-compliant 8-Pin SOIC package and it is rated for operation over a -40⁰C to +85⁰C temperature range.
