Introduction:The NCP130BMX150TCG is a three terminal Voltage Regulator, and it is a Linear type voltage regulator. It is used to regulate an input voltage to an output voltage and it is designed to provide excellent transient response, high output accuracy, low dropout and an extended SVI (Secondary Voltage Indicator). The NCP130BMX150TCG is a fully integrated solution, with the added benefit of high efficiency, low noise and low power consumption.Application Field:The NCP130BMX150TCG can be used in various applications, such as Internal Hot Swap, Backlight, Secondary Power Supply and Minimum dropout regulators. It is also suitable for Portable Computing, Ultra Portable Computing and High Efficiency (HEV) products. Thanks to its high efficiency and low standby current, it is well suited for applications where a higher efficiency, lower power consumption and smaller size are desired.Features:The NCP130BMX150TCG has the following features:• Output voltage accuracy of ±3% over temperature, line and load regulation.• Low dropout voltage performance with a minimum of 0.5V at 250mA.• High-efficiency switching operation up to 95%.• Integrated Transient Response Control to ensure a low output voltage variation over load change.• Ultra low-noise operation.Block Diagram:The block diagram illustrates the NCP130BMX150TCG’s architecture, comprising an input stage that combines a P-channel MOSFET and a low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator to generate an output voltage with the desired accuracy and noise performance. The Output stage can be configured as an LDO or as a switching regulator depending on the load current. Mode transition between the two operation modes is performed using a MOSFET switch.Working Principle:The NCP130BMX150TCG works by adjusting the output voltage to match the INTVCC regulated voltage source. It achieves this goal by sampling the output voltage and then adjusting the output voltage in order to maintain accuracy. This is achieved by sensing the differential voltage between the output voltage and the INTVCC.When the output voltage is lower than the INTVCC, the output voltage is boosted. The NCP130BMX150TCG regulates output voltage by switching its current through an external MOSFET, thus adjusting the current flow between input and output pins.In conjunction with the low-dropout regulator, an optional filter capacitor connected to the output improves the performance by providing better transient response, ripple rejection and output voltage accuracy.Conclusion:The NCP130BMX150TCG is a three terminal voltage regulator, which is a linear type voltage regulator.
