PMIC - AC DC Converters, Offline SwitchersThe NCP1380BDR2G is a member of the industry’s highest performance family of synchronous offline power topologies. This device is a fixed frequency PWM controller optimized for flyback converters. It provides an integrated voltage regulated output voltage, protection and diagnostic feedback. The NCP1380BDR2G has also improved electrical characteristics over other existing solutions in this market.The NCP1380BDR2G can conform to the requirements of the digital TV, gaming and set-top box applications due to its high efficiency and low system cost. This device can perform high-efficiency power conversion with low-cost components, low standby power and small form factor. It also has features that allow for transformer sizing optimization and protection features.The device is available in a single operating voltage of 5.5V and temperature range from -40 to +85 degrees Celsius. This device has an enable/ disable pin which is a low power enable/ standby pin. It allows for low-power standby operation when the converter is not in use.The device has a wide range of built in safety features, such as input overvoltage protection, over temperature protection, short circuit protection and output short-circuit protection. The device also has a soft start, adjustable OVP and maximum peak inductor current limit. It has a voltage tracking functionality, which allows the output voltage to track the input voltage.The device is also equipped with an integrated temperature sensing block which monitors the chip’s temperature, and can shut down the device in case of over temperature situations. It has a current mode PWM controller with a typical operating frequency of 500kHz.This device can also be used in a variety of applications such as LED lighting, gaming, automotive, AC/DC adapters, industrial and medical power supplies, as well as other low power applications.The NCP1380BDR2G\'s working principle consists of a current-mode control PWM controller that operates at a typical 500kHz. The controller controls the output voltage of the converter based on three sensing signals, the input voltage, the output voltage and the inductor current. The device also utilizes a ramp compensation loop to stabilize the loop, and a thermal protection loop to monitor the chip’s temperature and disable the converter in case of overheating.The device also includes an adaptive voltage position control loop which allows the system to attain very high efficiency and low standby power. This allows the power supply to monitor and regulate the output voltage with minimal losses when the load is changing.The device features peak inductor current limit functionality and adjustable over voltage protection (OVP) which allows for transformer sizing optimization. The device has an enable/ disable pin which is a low power enable/ standby pin. It allows for low-power standby operation when the converter is not in use.The NCP1380BDR2G can perform high-efficiency power conversion with low noise and low system cost, making it ideal for a variety of applications such as LED lighting, automotive, AC/DC adapters, industrial and medical power supplies, as well as other low power applications.
