The NCP1399ANDR2G is a high-performance AC/DC converter that is utilized in offline switcher applications. This device uses the half-bridge type of control structure and has four key functional blocks: a precision reference, high-voltage start-up circuitry, a stability loop, and a bi-directional switch. It also features an adjustable transformer coupling capacitor and an adaptive start-up circuit. The NCP1399ANDR2G is a single phase AC/DC offline converter. It provides wear leveling, ripple filtering, and dynamic current sharing capabilities across four channels. The device is designed to operate in convection-cooled or conduction-cooled configurations. It has an adjustable operating frequency between 48kHz and 500 kHz and provides both synchronous rectification and frequency reduction for improved efficiency. The NCP1399ANDR2G is certified to meet safety requirements for IEC/EN/UL60950-1 and IEC/EN/UL60950-22 and meets the IEC/EN/UL61558-2-16 specifications. The NCP1399ANDR2G provides a wide input voltage range from 90VAC to 265VAC and a wide output voltage range from 0V to 390V. An external circuit connected to an opto-coupler or a DC voltage can set the output voltage of the device. It also provides input under-voltage protection, external feedback loop protection, output over-voltage protection and over temperature protection. The NCP1399ANDR2G is a highly-integrated device which consists of several components providing functions related to the power quality, high-voltage start-up, current-mode control, and protection. Its architecture is designed so that it can be used in single-phase as well as three-phase AC/DC offline applications. The internal voltage regulator uses a ramp-type comparator for sawtooth waveform generation,generating a pulse width modulated shear-stress (SRM) signal from the PWM edge level. The device includes a precision 5-bit DAC embedded in the bandgap reference circuit and in the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for the output current. It includes an oscillator for the PWM frequency adjustment, and an 8-bit D/A converter for frequency adjustment and output range adjustment. The NCP1399ANDR2G also features a synchronous rectification controller which generates complementary drives for the outputs. The device enables synchronous rectification in a constant-frequency mode, while self-adapting the current limit value. The output current mode control is achieved by using the adjustable double slope (ADS) technique; a comparator is used for current sense and peak current Limit protection. This ensures reliable and repeatable output current regulation.The NCP1399ANDR2G includes a wide range of protection features, such as input over-voltage protection where the IC self-shuts down when the input voltage exceeds 265V. It also provides output over-voltage protection and can be set between 50V to 390V. The user can also set the output voltage range internally by using a resistor scaling.To ensure efficient start-up and long-term operation, the NCP1399ANDR2G offers an advanced adaptive start-up circuit which allows the external transformer start-up capacitor to be used as an additional filter. It also has a start-up timer, which monitors the time required for the circuit to reach the target voltage, and initiates a soft-start process when the transformer coupling capacitor is too small. The NCP1399ANDR2G is a highly efficient, cost effective solution for a variety of AC/DC converter applications. It is a low-cost, highly configurable offline switch mode power supply (SMPS) ideal for a variety of SMPS applications such as ac/dc adaptors, wireless charging and similar low power applications, making it a reliable and cost-effective solution.
