The NCP81205FMNTXG is a special purpose voltage regulator integrated circuit embedded in a package with a metal tab for surface mount usage. It is a positive charge pump controller with an adjustable output voltage and programmable/adjustable voltage regulation, providing both current and voltage regulation on an output device. The adjustable voltage mode provides an adjustable output voltage between 0.8V-5.5V, allowing the designer to dial almost any voltage level quickly, providing an adjustable hill-top current recovery mechanism.The NCP81205FMNTXG utilizes a high efficiency charge pump topology optimized to achieve over 95% efficiency, and optimally designed to meet power regulation requirements. The NCP81205FMNTXG can operate as a standalone or a synchronized buck controller with a high-side current sense. The voltage regulation loop maintains the required output voltage in response to load, line, and temperature variations.The NCP81205FMNTXG applies a pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique to provide the optimal electrical operating point for the load. The PWM technology is used for tracking and providing the highest accuracy for output voltage and current for the regulated device. The device is also capable of providing over-voltage protection and over-current protection.In addition, the NCP81205FMNTXG can also waterproof itself in an automotive environment and provide short-circuit protection, making it an ideal choice for high performance, low profile applications. The device utilizes current sensing, reverse-polarity protection, and open loop UVLO to provide exceptional performance and reliability.
