The NCV2575D2T-ADJG is a monolithic high-voltage, high-efficiency DC-DC synchronous buck regulator. It operates in switching frequencies up to 1.58MHz and integrates a gate driver, internal power MOSFETs and compensation circuitry. Output voltage is adjustable from 0.76V to approximately 85% of the input voltage.

It is housed in a space-saving 6mm x 9mm WDFN-23L package and boasts the industry’s smallest foot print for 0.8V 200mA applications.

The NCV2575D2T-ADJG is ideal for applications that require low power at high efficiency, such as cellular phones, cellular modems, PDAs, camera phones, and portable data collection devices.

Application Field

The NCV2575D2T-ADJG is a DC-DC synchronous buck switching regulator, the type of regulator most commonly used for energy-efficient voltage conversion in computer systems and portable electronic devices. It is designed for applications requiring high-efficiency, low-power conversion of input voltage from 2.5V to 6V to 0.76V to 1.5V. It integrates key features such as a high-side NMOS switch and a low-side PMOS switch, internal compensation network and a driver circuitry, making it a very robust, easily-implemented device.

Thanks to its 0.8V 200mA output capability, the NCV2575D2T-ADJG is suitable for powering microprocessors, FPGA’s and memory applications, as well as portable electronics such as Cellular phones, PDAs, Camera phones and data collection devices. It is also suitable for industrial applications such as voltage translation in motor control and lighting control designs.

Working Principle

The NCV2575D2T-ADJG operates using a buck switching regulator topology. This type of switching regulator works by rapidly switching a power switch (transistor) from the output to the ground, allowing current to flow through the switch to the inductor, pulling down the output voltage. The voltage is then regulated by adjusting the switching frequency or, in the case of the NCV2575D2T-ADJG, the gate drive to the power switch.

The buck switching regulator topology operates in a continuous conduction mode; the output voltage is regulated by controlling the gate drive, pulse-width modulation is used to regulate the output voltage. The optimal duty cycle is determined by the input and output voltage, as well as the load current. The NCV2575D2T-ADJG includes a compensation network to ensure stability and a wide operating frequency range.

When used in small current applications, the NCV2575D2T-ADJG features a low quiescent current, making it ideal for battery powered applications. The device also features overlapping Soft-Start, allowing for a clean startup sequence. The integrated gate drivers also offer additional protection against inductor current during startup and shutdown, providing robust protection for the device.

It also integrates thermal protections, allowing for safe and reliable operation of the device. The NCV2575D2T-ADJG also supports PGOOD for monitoring the output voltage, allowing for power-up sequencing of multiple devices.
