NCV4269DW Application Field and Working Principle
The NCV4269DW is a voltage regulator device belonging to the Linear PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) family. This device is suitable to supply VDD, LDO linear voltage regulator, with output adjustable from V OUT = 0.8V to V OUT = 6.0V. It belongs to the family of Low Drop-Out (LDO) regulators and has an excellent drop-out performance, therefore it is suitable either for battery powered or fixed input systems.
The maximum output current of this device is 1.5A and its minimum pin-to-pin resistance is 19mΩ. The input voltage can range from 2.75V up to 6.0V and its dual-mode high-side N-MOSFET driver allows for linear or low frequency PWM control of both main and secondary inputs. This device also has a switchable Boost/Buck start-up control which allows for gradual power-up and power-down of the system.
In terms of its working principle, the NCV4269DW is able to regulate the output voltage to a certain level despite variation in the input voltage. It accomplishes this mainly by employing a controlled feedback loop. When the output voltage begins to drop, the error amplifier of the device detects this, amplifies the voltage and sends this amplified signal to the top gate of P-MOSFET. This causes the P-MOSFET to conduct the current from the input source to the output supply, thus increasing the output voltage.
