NJM2864F03-TE1 Voltage Regulator

Application Field

NJM2864F03-TE1 is a type of linear voltage regulator, more specifically an adjustable 3-terminal negative voltage regulator. It can be used to control the output voltage of DC power supply within a range of -3V to -24V, and provides an output current up to 1A. This voltage regulator’s adjustable output allows system designers to satisfy most requirements of negative output voltage. The thermal protection circuit can prevent from short-circuit or overload where the output voltage drops by 0.2V or 2V compared to its expected voltage.

Working Principle

NJM2864F03-TE1 is a monolithic integrated circuit features complete circuitry for regulating the output voltage. It includes two voltage reference circuits, one with -3V to -24V adjustable voltage range and the other with -1.2V fixed voltage. It also includes error amplifiers, current limiter, temperature switch, and oscillator. When the voltage across the output terminal rises above the adjusted value, the whole circuit will start to operate.

The error amplifier senses the difference between the regulated output and the voltage reference and amplifies it, forming the control voltage. This voltage is then input to the base of the control transistor, which eventually adjusts the drive current, controlling the output voltage. The current limiter sets a current limit, mainly in the event of a short circuit. It will shut down the output when the output current exceeds the pre-set limit. The thermal protection circuit shuts down the output in the event of an over ceiling temperature.
