Working Principle of NJM78LR05BMNJM78LR05BM is a three-terminal low dropout regulator. It has a pass element consisting of a series P-channel MOSFET, an error amplifier and an output voltage level detector. The integrated error amplifier amplifies the voltage difference between the reference voltage and the output voltage and generates an error current. The pass element, which is a P-channel MOSFET, is connected to the error amplifier. The output voltage is controlled by the two resistors connected between the output terminal and the error amplifier input terminal. When the output voltage level is below the reference voltage level, the error amplifier generates a negative error current and the P-channel MOSFET is on, supplying current to the output.
