NJU7231F28-TE1 Voltage Regulator is a Linear voltage regulator (LVR) from New Japan Radio Company (NJR). It is a high performance linear regulator that is suitable for DC-DC power supplies, power management for a variety of applications, such as Automotive, Industrial, and Consumer applications. This LVR operates from a wide input voltage range of 2.8 V to 20 V and provides output voltage stability with a +/-1.0% accuracy range over line and load variations. The high efficiency of the NJU7231F28-TE1 is due to its combination of low-friction MOSFETs and low-wattage CMOS devices that operate with low levels of power dissipation.
NJU7231F28-TE1 has several internal protection features that make it suitable for harsh enviroment applications. It has over current protection (OCP), over temperature protection (OTP), under voltage protection (UVP) and output short-circuit protection (SCP). NJU7231F28-TE1 also has an internal soft-start, which prevents large inrush currents during startup and minimizes the possibility of output overshoot. The IC has high immunity towards EMI, surge and transients.
Working principle of NJU7231F28-TE1 is based on the current-mode control circuit. It has an adjustable output voltage, current limiting capability and over temperature protection. When the voltage across the output of the regulator rises above 2.5V, the internal current limit circuit of the IC starts to limit the output current. If the temperature of the device exceeds its maximum safe operating temperature, the internal thermal protection circuitry starts to limit the output current, which helps to prevent damage to the IC due to over heating.
