NK4MFAWH is a system which is capable of adaptively controlling four muffs from two independent air-actuated sources. The system is designed to provide optimal acoustic performance by maintaining uniform, repeatable muff engagement, regardless of operation conditions.

The working principle of NK4MFAWH is based on the adaptive control of four muffs from two air-actuated sources. The adaptive control is based on the principle of comparing the muff engagement position, compared to the determined optimum engagement position to adjust the air-actuated sources accordingly for the optimal acoustic performance. The system has two air-actuated systems – the primary and secondary – which control the four muffs. The primary system applies a set pressure to all four muffs, while the secondary system is regulated by the position of the four muffs.

The primary system operates by first regulating the pressure of the four muffs. The system compares the position of the four muffs to the determined optimum engagement position and adjusts the pressure of the four muffs accordingly. The secondary system then takes effect and applies a variable pressure to the appropriate muff based on the position of the four muffs compared to the optimum engagement position. The secondary system has a maximum pressure setting which can be adjusted to suit specific engine/application parameters. If the position of the muff is beyond the predetermined parameters, the secondary system will be adjusted to ensure uniform, repeatable muff engagement.
