Pressure sensors, also known as pressure transducers, are devices that measure pressure of a gas or liquid and convert it into an electrical signal. The NPI-19J-200AV is a high-precision pressure sensor manufactured by STMicroelectronics. It is designed to measure absolute gauges, differential pressures, and pressure-based flow rates. The Wheatstone bridge consists of four resistors; when the bridge is balanced, the voltage output is zero. The four resistors are placed around a diaphragm and connected to the sensor circuitry. The combination of the resistors and diaphragm creates the bridge. As pressure is applied to the diaphragm, its shape changes, causing the resistance of each resistor to change, resulting in an output voltage.

The piezoresistive element consists of a piezoresistor connected to a diaphragm. As pressure is applied, the diaphragm deflects in response, changing its resistance. The piezoresistor is connected to a Wheatstone bridge circuit and the voltage generated is proportional to the applied pressure. The output voltage is then amplified and converted to a digital signal by an A/D converter.

The NPI-J19-200AV can be used for a wide range of applications such as pressure monitoring in industrial processes, blood pressure monitoring in medical applications, fuel injection systems, master cylinder pressure measurements and flow rate measurements.
