Temperature Sensors - NTC Thermistors
Temperature sensors are basic components used in a variety of industries, including automotive, telecommunications, medical, industrial, and consumer products, to measure, control and regulate temperatures. Temperature sensors are devices that sense temperature changes and output either a voltage or current signal. Compared to other types of temperature sensors, NTC thermistors have several advantages, such as high sensitivity, wide operating temperature range, fast response time and low cost. NTC thermistors also have the advantage of low self-heating, which allows them to measure temperature accurately.A typical model of NTC thermistor is NTCS0805E3103HLT, with the dimensions of 0.08”(2.0mm) x 0.05”(1.3mm) x 0.03”(0.8mm), it is one of the smallest available thermistors. This thermistor is calibrated in 25/85℃ Celsius and its resistance range is 25 Ω to 10KΩ. NTCS0805E3103HLT features fast response time and +/- 3% inherent B value accuracy. NTCS0805E3103HLT is capable of operating at -40 to +120℃ ranges which make it suitable to use in a variety of temperature sensing applications.NTCS0805E3103HLT is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as over-temperature protection, temperature compensation, temperature control, motor temperature sensing, HVAC control and temperature measurement in automotive, industrial and consumer electronics. NTCS0805E3103HLT is also widely used in liquid coolers, dishwashers, air conditioners, water heaters, electric stoves, refrigerators, car audio systems and mechanical equipment.The working principle of NTCS0805E3103HLT is based on its characteristics of resistance and temperature. The electrical resistance of NTCS0805E3103HLT increases as temperature decreases, and decreases as temperature increases. This change of resistance results in a corresponding change in voltage at the thermistor terminals, which can then be measured. By measuring the resistance of the thermistor and relating it to calibrated temperatures, the temperature of an area can be determined accurately. NTC thermistors are used as temperature sensors in a variety of applications due to their fast response time and high accuracy.
