Working Principle:

The NTST30100SG bridge rectifier diode is a 600V full wave rectifier, which utilises both the positive and the negative frequencies of an alternating current. Under the principle of full wave rectification, four diodes are connected in a bridge formation, forming a closed loop. The bridge rectifier then allows current to flow in one direction only, which results in a rectified output.When an AC voltage is applied across the input terminals of the rectifier, the four diodes connected in the bridge formation are triggered as follows:

• When the voltage across the positive input terminal is positive relative to the negative input terminal, the right sided diodes conduct, allowing current to flow through the circuit and rectifying the input signal.
• When the voltage across the positive input terminal is negative relative to the negative input terminal, the left sided diodes conduct and the current reverses direction, resulting in a rectified output.

The rectified output is then smoothed through the use of a filter capacitor, which removes the ripple from the signal and results in a DC output.
