NUSC4-WH is a short form for No urea sulfate castable grade nozzle-wash, a refractory material?used for erosion prevention. It is mainly used in the metallurgical and related industries. This material is produced by mixing materials such as magnesite, alumina and graphite into a paste which is then sprayed in a heated form onto the surface of certain components, such as nozzles, bellows and baffles, to prevent erosion due to molten metal abrasion or splash.

The NUSC4-WH application field includes steel, aluminium and copper foundries, thermal plants, pipelines, paper and pulp plants, submarines and naval vessels, kilns, mining and ceramic industries. It is also used in some heat-intensive process where erosion protection and increased temperature handling ability are needed. It can withstand temperatures up to 1400°C (2550°F).

NUSC4-WH has a strong resistance to abrasion and highly corrosive atmospheres. It eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming changes that is necessary for many other forms of erosion protection. The material is applied via the various spray-gun processes, and can be adjusted to the nozzle size and shape. The working principle of NUSC4-WH is based on the principle of self-hardening. The material is applied to the surface with the help of a mortar-like paste. The paste is then sprayed onto the surface in the form of a gas which solidifies on contact with the hot surface.

The application of the NUSC4-WH material to the surface of the component also ensures an even coating. Moreover, it provides enhanced adhesion to the surface and does not require binders, catalysts or fortifying agents. It can also be used in combination with other materials, enabling it to withstand the most extreme conditions. NUSC4-WH improves the lifespan of components subject to high temperatures and increases protection against corrosion.

NUSC4-WH is an exceptionally long-lasting material, and its application and approach increase the performance and lifespan of components subject to extreme conditions. Additionally, it may be applied in much smaller amounts than other protective coatings, and offers a low environmental impact due to its low production and application energy requirements.
