Working Principle

The OHD5R-105B uses a bi-metallic sensing element to measure temperature. This element is constructed from two metals bonded together, usually steel and copper, which have different rates of thermal expansion. As the temperature rises, the inner metal expands faster than the outer metal, causing the element to flex. The element is linked to a mechanical switch, which actuates at a predetermined temperature.The pre-calibrated OHD5R-105B can control temperatures between -25°C and +85°C with an accuracy of ±2.5°C. This device can be configured for operation with a fixed differential or adjustable differential. The differential is the range at which the OHD5R-105B engages or disengages. In fixed differential mode, the device engages and disengages at a preset temperature, while in adjustable differential mode the user can adjust the engagement and disengagement temperature.

Installation

The OHD5R-105B’s sensing element is housed in a weatherproof case with a 1/2\'\' NPT process connection. The device is wired with two connections; one to the power supply and the other to the load. To configure the device, there are two slender adjustment knobs located on the front panel of the enclosure. These knobs are used to calibrate the device and to adjust the differential setting if necessary.
