Magnetic Sensors - Switches (Solid State)

Magnetic sensors, or switches, as they are sometimes referred to, are electronic components with a range of capabilities. They enable a customizable range of motion detection when equipped with the proper range of motion sensors. The OMH3019B is a solid state magnetic sensor specifically designed for a wide range of applications within the industrial and commercial sectors.

The OMH3019B can be applied for both human and vehicle motion detection, allowing its user to detect and respond to various motion variables with no physical contact. By using magnetoresistive technology, the OMH3019B is able to detect and relay movement and disturbance without having to be in direct contact with the moving parts or environment.

The OMH3019B contains a coil of wire which acts as a sensing element, with its normal open state being connected to an input pin which activates the internal circuit. This wire coil is then exposed to a strong magnetic field, which when close enough, produces a current in the coil. The current then starts to flow to a reference voltage and this change in voltage is reported back to the input pin on the OMH3019B, which activates the internal circuit.

This activity is then translated into a positive output that is then used in the control of motion variables. The OMH3019B utilizes a variety of current sensing techniques, with the most popular being: the Hall Effect, the Magnetic Amplifier, and the Magnetic Field Generator.
