The OP292GS is a compact, low-noise, high-speed current-feedback amplifier (CFA), ideal for a variety of applications in the field of instrumentation, OP Amps, Buffer Amps, and linear amplification. Its low power operation, small package size, and integrated stability allow for a wide range of applications.

Application Field and Working Principle

As an amplifier, the OP292GS was designed to satisfy the demanding requirements of modern instrumentation and process control. It can be used to amplify low-level signals, directly measure current or voltage, or supply base band ICs. The nature of the current-feedback operation allows use of very small gain-bandwidth products, resulting in improved settling time and slew rate. The OP292GS also allows for improved dynamic range and milder distortion and noise characteristics.

The OP292GS is a single-channel amplifier with a single-ended input and output. It offers gains from 0.1 to 1000 and has an operating frequency range up to 25MHz. The amplifier is designed to run off a single +5V power supply with adjustable gain settings. The off-axis and linearity performance are excellent, with less than 0.005% THD+N and a 0.003 ohm output impedance.

The amplifier can also be used as a unity-gain buffer, providing an isolated output that is isolated from the input offset, supply voltage noise, and other sources of noise.

The wide operating frequency range is achieved with a high slew rate, fast settling time, and low noise performance. At high frequencies, the amplifier provides good phase and gain margin, with excellent phase linearity and low roll-off. The slew rate is adjustable between 10V/µs and 100V/µs, allowing the amplifier to adapt to different application requirements.

The OP292GS also offers a variety of output modes – the single-ended output mode provides low output impedance, allowing for higher slew rates; the push-pull mode allows for improved linearity and distortion, and the current feedback output mode offers maximum current drive capabilities for use in current loop applications.

The amplifier includes a noise-reduction feature, which reduces any background noise from the power supplies, resulting in excellent signal-to-noise performance. The amplifier also includes a low power consumption sleep feature, which further reduces power consumption.
