OP297FS Application Field and Working PrincipleThe OP297FS is a high-performance amplifier designed with instrumentation applications in mind. It is a dual-channel, differential, low-power, low-noise amplifier, intended for use as a buffer and buffer amplifier in instrumentation and signal applications with low frequency signals and high gain requirements.The OP297FS is designed to provide exceptionally low noise, very low distortion, high linearity, and excellent signal-to-noise (SNR) and signal-to-distortion (SDR) ratios. Additionally, the OP297FS has excellent DC characteristics and can operate from a single supply rail, ranging from ±5 V to ±9 V. The wide operating voltage range and low power consumption (<500mW) make the OP297FS both versatile and cost effective for a variety of applications.The OP297FS is capable of delivering a wide range of gains from +1 to +35 dB. Its low and distortion-free output voltage noise of <1 nV/√Hz enables it to be effectively used as a buffer, amplifier, and pre-amplifier in low frequency signals, such as those encountered in biomedical, medical, test and measurement, industrial, audio, and communications applications.Working PrincipleThe OP297FS is designed to follow a two-stage differential amplifier configuration. In the first stage, the signal is AC coupled, where the high and low frequency signals are separated by a suitable frequency-dependent resistor. The signal then passes through the differential amplifier using two matched NMOS transistors, which work together to provide balanced amplification.The two transistors are arranged in a differential configuration, with one in each branch of the amplifier. The two transistors are designed with complementary symmetrical designs, ensuring low distortion and wide bandwidth for the amplifier. The two transistors are biased to operate in their saturation region, ensuring an ideal linearity for both the high and low frequency signals.The second stage of the amplifier is a voltage follower configuration, where the amplified signal is then amplified further. The amplified signal then passes to an output buffer amplifier, which is used to isolate the output from the rest of the amplifier, ensuring optimum signal integrity.The OP297FS is an ideal choice for applications requiring high-gain and low-noise operation.
