OPB608B Working Principle
OPB608B is an analog output optical sensor which processes reflected light from a target application. It is composed of an LED emitter and a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) to form an external electronic circuit. The LED illuminates the target area, and the LDR collects the reflection. Output from the LDR drives an internal integrator circuit in the sensor which processes the light reflected from the target. The output of the sensor is an analog voltage signal.
The integrated circuit in the sensor is made up of four sections: the transmitter section, the receiver section, the comparator section, and the amplifier section. The transmitter section generates a rectangular wave signal which is sent to the receiver section. The rectangular wave signal is transmitted to the LDR to control its output. The output from the LDR drives an internal analog integrator circuit, which compares the level of light received with the setpoint. The comparator section then produces a signal which is sent to the amplifier section, and the designed amplification amplifies the signal. The amplified signal is then sent to an analog output port.
The output from the OPB608B can be adjusted by changing the gain levels of the amplifier output, as well as adjusting the time period of the internal timer. The parameters can be adjusted for different applications, such as speed testing, distance measuring, etc. The sensor can operate in a wide range of temperature and humidity, and still provide a stable and reliable output.
