OPIA6010ATRA is an optically isolator which uses a transistor, photovoltaic (PV) output. It is a narrow-body component designed to bridge an input to an output, such as a DC- or AC-powered device, with an electrically isolated interface. This optically isolator helps designers to easily achieve isolation between the primary input and output circuits, helping protect system components and circuits.The main application fields of the OPIA6010ATRA include assembling and modifying industrial automation and process control systems, medical equipment, consumer electronics and other applications, wherein electrical signal wiring is subjected to extreme electrical interference, such as from EMI, RFI, ground loops and other malfunction-causing electro-interference, as well as from overloads, short circuits and other abnormal feedback interference.The primary working principle of the OPIA6010ATRA optically isolator is a combination of Photovoltaic and Transistor technologies. When a low voltage input signal is applied to the device, an LED (Light Emitting Diode) inside the device is illuminated, which activates the photovoltaic cell. This cell then generates a small electrical current, which passes through a transistor in the device. This transistor acts as a switch, allowing small electrical currents to pass through its gate, depending on the input signal. The output of the transistor is then connected to the input source, allowing a secure physical isolation to be achieved between the two ports.The OPIA6010ATRA optically isolator can work up to an input of 30 VDC or a maximum of 250 VACrms, providing electrical isolation up to the 8 kV peak rating. The device features a 0.25 A maximum rated load and thermally assisted Opto Collector outputs of 16 mA maximum. The LED input-to-output isolation is designed for a minimum 8 kV rms rating and a minimum 20 kV peak value rating, virtually eliminating any risks of electrical interference.The main advantages of using the OPIA6010ATRA optically isolator are its small size, low profile, high speed, low power consumption, low heat generation, wide operating temperature range and high electrical isolation. It is also a cost-effective and energy-efficient solution for electrical signal isolation.
