Introduction

Functionality

The OPL 813-OC consists of a receiver, signal amplifier, logic circuit, power supply, and a busy indicator. Its receiver is an opto-isolated detector that accurately detects light/dark signals. Working Principle

The OPL 813-OC is powered by a single-ended DC input voltage varying from 12V to 24V. It has an internal bandgap voltage regulator circuit that enables it to operate even in extremely low input voltages without any effect on the outputs.OPL 813-OC utilizes photodiode as the light/dark level detector. The photodiode is connected in a reverse biased arrangement with negative feedback. The photodiode senses the presence of light or dark, and generates an analog voltage corresponding to the amount of light/dark it is sensing. This analog voltage is amplified by an OP amplifier and fed to a differential input comparator.The logic output high level is set at the minimum threshold voltage, and the logic output low level is set at the maximum threshold voltage. When the input voltage is higher than the min threshold voltage, the logic output is high; otherwise the logic output is low.
