OV09281-H64A is an image sensor from ON Semiconductor, a well-known American semiconductor supplier. It is 1/4 inch optical format mobile camera image sensor, which includes a color filter, built-in color noise reduction, high-definition range, HDR, and dual conversion gains. This image sensor is widely used in mobile camera applications such as facial and eye recognition, video streaming, and automotive applications.

The OV09281-H64A image sensor contains the same interface as a standard color camera, including a vertical clock, a horizontal clock, a reset signal, and address decode logic. The image sensor converts the analog image signals into digital data, which are then transferred to the processor via the serializer/deserializer (SERDES) interface. It also supports three types of analog digital conversion gains: a higher gain to improve dynamic range, a lower gain to reduce noise, and dual conversion gain to increase sensitivity. The OV09281-H64A supports a wide range of digital output formats, including JPEG, mSDK, and raw.

The maximum exposure time for HDR is 20 ms, and the maximum frame rate for HDR is 20 fps.The working principle of OV09281-H64A is based on the CCD (charge-coupled device) and CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) technology. As the light is projected onto the image sensor, photodiodes generates photo currents which are then shifted and amplified by the CCD circuitry. The amplified signals are further transferred and output as digital data. The CMOS circuitry is responsible for the storage and retrieval of the digital data, clock signals, and other analog-to-digital conversion.
