Thyristors, also known as silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs) and triacs, are three-terminal semi-conductor devices used for electrical control and switching. The P0602ACL60 has a unique reversing structure that provides superior protection of high-energy, transient overvoltages from sources such as lightning strikes and heavy EMI. It is used for surge current protection, transient branch protection, transient AC line protection, load spike protection, motor overload protection, and other applications.The P0602ACL60 consists of a chip body and a gate electrodecap assembly. The body is made of silicon and has two P-type junctions. The gate electrodecap assembly consists of a gate electrode, gate protector, and a clamping diode. The P-type junctions and gate electrodecap are connected in series, and the diode is connected in parallel with the P0602ACL60.When the voltage across the P0602ACL60 exceeds one or two forward voltages, the diode will become forward biased. This forward biasing will cause the P-type junctions to start conducting current, thus allowing it to pass through the P0602ACL60. The gate electrodecap will act as an additional point of conduction, providing protection against transient overvoltages.The P0602ACL60 has an increased direct current (DC) blocking voltage that can be used for many different types of protection applications. It is designed to protect against transient overvoltages up to 15 kilovolts (kV) and 10 kiloamperes (kA). It has a fast response time, low power loss, and low leakage current. The P0602ACL60 is also capable of absorbing multiple pulses of highly surge current or spikes.In addition, the P0602ACL60 is an environmentally friendly device, with no lead, halogen-free, and RoHS compliant. It is ideal for use in general purpose AC and DC applications, such as motor drive, solar inverters, communication, and power supply systems.The P0602ACL60 is a reliable, durable, and cost-effective protection device for a wide variety of consumer electronics.
