The P2356UCTP thyristor is a high-power, economical device designed for high frequency, low voltage applications, such as electrical drives, lighting, and heating control. It features a unique three-terminal, static gate circuit that detects and controls the gate voltage prior to latching, which allows for fast cutting of phase-control thyristor. The P2356UCTP works similarly to a mechanical switch in that closing and opening of the contacts is done solely by controlling the gate voltage.

The P2356UCTP device can be used in a variety of situations, such as switching HID ballasts, switching wide dynamic range power supplies and lighting, controlling heating, overload protection, and motor control.
