<p>P3602CARP (Controlled Avalanche Rated Presspacks) is a special type of thyristor used in high voltage applications. It is designed to handle high voltage overcurrents of short duration, such as electrical arc conditions. P3602CARPs are widely used in various applications including power transmission systems, industrial and automotive systems, and consumer electronics.</p><p>The basic construction of P3602CARPs consists of two junctions placed in parallel: a main junction and a control junction. The main junction is formed by a pair of opposing p-type and n-type semiconductor material junctions. The control junction is formed by a second pair of p-type and n-type material which can be used as the gate of the thyristor.</p> <p>When the applied voltage is exceeded, the main junction break-down and the control junction is started with positive gate current. This allows the gate to completely close and the thyristor to be turned-on. Once the thyristor is turned on, the control current increases and the junction in parallel with the main junction is broken down into an avalanche state, providing a low-pressure but reliable connection between the Anode and the Gate of the device.</p><p>The main feature of this type of thyristor is its high hold-off voltage response. This feature makes it suitable for applications such as voltage clamping, power line protection and motor control. It can also be used to protect against short-term inrush currents, as well as to limit the flow of power surges.</p><p>P3602CARPs offer other key benefits such as fast turn-on and turn-off time, as well as low power loss. They can be operated in very high voltage environments up to 10 kV which makes them ideal for applications in difficult environments such as automobile, military, and aerospace applications.
