By using output dividers, the device is able to provide dividers from 1/2 to 256 in increments of 1/256. The programmable dividers will increase the frequency-arm length accuracy of the PLL.

In addition to the Reference Source Selection logic, The P5I2309AF-116SR integrates a VCO that supports any frequency of choice within the range of 5MHz to 300MHz. It also supports a Synthesis mode which enables the device to produce a wide range of output frequencies with a maximum resolution of up to 1/256.The PLL of the device also includes an RX Divider which controls the frequency of the synthesized output as well as a Phase Frequency Detector (PFD) and Charge Pump (CP) that allows for accurate frequency tracking of even highly varying input frequencies.
