The P6KE150-B Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) is a uni-directional device designed to protect against the transient over-voltage events that are caused by such phenomena as lightning, power cross, electrostatic discharge, and switching transients.

The P6KE150-B has a reverse breakdown clamping voltage of 150V, and can provide a power dissipation rating of 500W following a 10/1000μs waveform, making it ideal for a variety of applications. A wide variety of applications benefit from the low capacitance and peak pulse power handling of TVS devices such as the P6KE150-B. It is suitable for use in photovoltaic systems, power systems, automotive applications, consumer electronics, as well as professional electronics, telecommunications, and RF.

The working principle of the P6KE150-B is relatively simple. It is made up of a pair of PN-dependent zener diodes in series. When an electrical surge occurs, the current passes through the device, and the PN-dependent zener diodes will operate in a spontaneous manner, clamping the voltage. This process, known as “clamping”, ensures that the voltage doesn’t exceed the designed level. The P6KE150-B has two separate working modes that can provide protection for both positive and negative voltages, or transient events. The diode junction maintains a low conduction resistance when the forward current is below 250mA. The P6KE150-B can also be used as a voltage suppression device, which limits the voltage extension, and reduces damage of the protected device.
