PCF1C101MCL1GS Application Field and Working Principle
The PCF1C101MCL1GS capacitor is especially suitable for the application of dc-dc converters, battery-powered products, notebook computers, portable audio equipment, toys, low-power products, medical equipment and other high reliability products. This aluminum - polymer capacitors advantage is its high capacitance values and its low equivalent series resistance. The ESR of this capacitor is only 0.1Ω, meaning it can deliver high-frequency and large current pulses with low voltage drop.
The PCF1C101MCL1GS aluminum - polymer capacitors utilize a hybrid structure. An outer layer of aluminum foil is sandwiched between two layers of polymer and then rolled up, a process is known as multi-layer winding.[1] The combination of an aluminum anode, a polymer dielectric, and a conductive cathode drastically improves the high frequency performance over conventional aluminum electrolytic capacitor designs. This specific structure not only reduces the ESL, ESR and equivalent series inductance (ESL), but also increases the capacitance value of the entire device.
In operation, the PCF1C101MCL1GS aluminum-polymer capacitors charge and discharge through the application of an electric field that is passed across the dielectric material. This is typically done by connecting the capacitor to a power source, creating and electric field within the dielectric material. When a voltage is applied across the capacitor, positive charges migrate from the anode and move towards the cathode, and negative charges migrate in the opposite direction. This process is known as polarization and causes the dielectric material to continuously form charge carriers.[2]
