PD412611 application field and working principle
PD412611 is an integrated circuit array that is used in switched-mode power supplies (SMPS), motor control circuits and analog applications. It is a low power, 3-pin dual array that consists of two paralleled high and low side driver circuits. This type of array consists of an integrated high side n-channel FET and p-channel FET, with an integrated diagnostic open drain P-channel FET. The array\'s internal current sense of two parallel linear paths gives it a very low RDS(ON) rate.
The PD412611 contains both circuit feedback and thermal sensing circuits designed to prevent thermal or inductive output overloads. When used in a SMPS, the array can provide a very efficient alternative to custom-designed two-channel driver solutions. In addition, the integrated circuit offers an excellent level of self-protection by monitoring peak temperatures and current levels. This version includes an additional low side n-channel FET and integrated junction field-effect transistor (JFET) to provide further thermal protection.
The PD412611 array is based on the N-Channel MOSFET (NMOS) architecture. A single NMOS is typically used for low side control, while two p-channel MOSFET (PMOS) elements are used for high side control. Two voltage sources, an input voltage Vi and an output voltage Vo, are used for the NMOS and PMOS. The two MOSFETs are used in parallel, with two input pins and one output pin connected to the load via these sources. The two MOSFETs are used to control the flow of current in the circuit. The NMOS turns on when the input voltage V i is greater than the output voltage Vo, allowing current to flow into the load. The PMOS connects the output to the input when the input is lower than the output, allowing current to flow out of the load.
The integrated CMOS circuit provides an integrated regulator, which is used to monitor output current. With this, the output current is compared to the set current, and the MOSFETs are turned off if the current is greater than the set level. This provides an effective way to protect the load from overloads, and also provides thermal management as the output is not connected directly to the MOSFETs. The PD412611 circuit also has an onboard input clamp that is used to prevent transients from occurring in the output.
The PD412611 circuit is ideal for applications where low current loads are needed, as it can provide high levels of accuracy.
