The PDS4150-13 is a single-phase rectifier with an application field in power electronics and multiple industrial automation. It is a member of the PDS family of rectifiers and can be used in high-current applications, with very good heat dissipation capabilities in the wide output and protection overload current ranges. This product provides isolated protection and over-current protection along with an integrated optical isolation device. The PDS4150-13 is manufactured using proven and reliable silicon-based semiconductor technology designed to offer a cost effective solution for rectification, power conversion and industrial automation applications.The PDS4150-13 is an ideal choice for high current AC/DC conversion applications for a wide range of industries. This device features very high rectification efficiency and low reverse leakage current. It also features a wide operating voltage range up to 85V and a maximum operating temperature of 105 degrees Celsius enabling it to withstand the increasing heat dissipation losses in power conversion and industrial automation applications. This device has a reverse voltage rating of up to 50V and a maximum forward voltage rating of ±2.85V.The working principle of the PDS4150-13 is based on a ‘bridge rectifier’ that is used to convert AC power to DC power. In a bridge rectifier, a diode is connected within each arm of the bridge circuit. As each diode switch is activated, the arm of the bridge circuit alternates between forward and reverse bias. When the alternating current passes through the diodes of the bridge rectifier, one arm of the bridge is activated and the other is deactivated. This causes the current to flow through one direction only, thus producing direct current (DC).In order to provide improved circuit performance, the PDS4150-13 has integrated several design features including voltage regulation, EMI/RFI suppression, high current capacity and thermal insulation. The integrated voltage regulation maintains a constant output voltage over the entire operating temperature range and the EMI/RFI suppression helps in avoiding transient disturbances. The high current capacity of the device provides protection against short-circuit conditions and the thermal insulation helps in avoiding thermal damage.The PDS4150-13 is equipped with an isolated output circuit that eliminates the need for connecting a heat sink to the device. This feature allows the device to perform efficiently at high currents without the need for additional cooling. The device also features an over-current protection feature that automatically cuts off the power output in case of an overload.
