The PEX8747-CA RDK is a PCI Express switch designed to support further development, prototyping and debugging of PCI Express designs. It also offers different peripheral options for development of systems with increased performance and flexibility.

The PEX8747-CA RDK can be used for applications such as data center, telemetry, industrial and consumer PCIe applications. It has the capability to support 8 Gbps PCIe forwarding rates, data rates up to x1/x2/x4/x8/x16, and configuration options such as two 2.5 Gbps HyperTransport and two 5 Gbps S-ATA links.

The PEX8747-CA RDK can provide up to 16 lanes of PCIe connectivity and is suitable for systems with a large bandwidth requirement. The logic core is responsible for the protocol checks and managing data flow, whereas the PHY is responsible for the physical layer functions such as handshake, lane reversal, arbitration and controlling the analog switch. The analog switch is responsible for managing data flow, routing the data to the appropriate endpoints and performing lane reversal.
