PTC Resettable Fuses are an essential component of home electronics, automotive, and industrial applications due to their ability to reset after current overloads, allowing the device to resume operation. PFLR.450 is a high performance Resettable Fuse with a wide operating temperature range and low internal resistance, making it an ideal solution for applications such as telecommunications, consumer electronics, computers, telecommunications systems, and power supplies. As a surface-mount component, this resettable fuse has a wide variety of applications, from protection and overcurrent protection to snubbing and limiters.

Application Areas of PFLR.450

PFLR.450 can be used as a protection circuit, overcurrent protector, snubber, and limiter in a variety of applications due to its wide operating temperature range and low internal resistance. Specifically, this resettable fuse is used in power supplies, telecommunications systems, personal computers, and consumer electronics where it provides inrush current rides, overcurrent protection, and too low and too high trip points. This can be especially beneficial for industrial applications, such as factories, manufacturing lines, and renewable energy plants, where sudden current spikes can cause damage or loss of operation. PFLR.450 allows surges to be quickly abated, while also providing reliable protection from current overloads.

How Does PFLR.450 Work?

This thermosetting PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) Resettable Fuse works on multiple principles. As the current running through it increases, the temperature begins to rise, causing it to weaken and eventually become resistant. When this happens, the circuit is opened, thus protecting it from further damage. As the temperature drops, the circuit is reset, allowing it to begin operating normally again.

At the core of this resettable fuse is a small thermistor element, which acts as the key sensing component. When the current running through the PFLR.450 exceeds the fuse’s rated current, it heats up, causing the thermistor element to enter a nonlinear region. This changes the characteristic distribution and triggers a thermal-electric feedback loop, restricting the current flow. When the current passes through the circuit, the electrical resistance of the thermistor is increased, thus creating a thermal heat pulse.

This heat pulse is sensed by temperaturesensitive elements in the fuse, which causes the fuse to trip, thus interrupting the flow of electricity and disconnect the circuit from the power supply. As the temperature drops, the elements return to their original state, which allows the current to flow, thus returning the fuse to its original state.

Benefits Of PFLR.450

PFLR.450 Resettable Fuse has the following benefits:

  • It is compact and easy to install
  • Provides reliable overcurrent protection
  • Ideal for high-temperature applications
  • High flexibility and low internal resistance
  • Low temperature rise and high-current capability
  • Cost-effective and economical

Due to its numerous advantages, PFLR.450 is a reliable and cost-effective solution for protecting against severe overcurrencies. It has a wide range of applications in consumer electronics, industrial, automotive, and home electronics, making it an ideal choice for any application.
