Application Field and Working Principle

PGFM-211-B-A1 is specifically designed for applications where personnel are exposed to direct contact with energized circuits, such as residential, commercial and industrial buildings, workshops, machines, tools, and other equipment that use electric power. It provides high-reliability Type A and B/C combination GFCI protection for any potential application in which personnel might come into contact with potentially lethal electric power.

This mode of Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter is designed to detect any imbalance in the current between a hot conductive element and a neutral conductor connected to the power source. It reduces the possibility of electric shock by cutting off the circuit when an imbalance is detected. In order to ensure that all possible ground faults are detected, it has a sensitivity of 5 mA. When a ground fault of 5mA or greater is detected, a RECEPTACLE GFCI switch is energized and the power to the connected load is instantly interrupted, protecting personnel and equipment from potential electric shock.

The PGFM-211-B-A1 also adds INLET GFCI protection for added safety. Inlet GFCI protection is an extra measure of safety which detects any imbalance in the current between the hot and the neutral conductors that come into the outlet. When an imbalance is detected, the power to the load is immediately cut off, providing the highest level of protection.

PGFM-211-B-A1 GFCI also meets UL 1053 requirements for Type B or C operation, which requires the GFCI to detect dangerous ground faults within 10 ms. Additionally, the PGFM-211-B-A1 has a built-in test button feature which, when pressed, automatically interrupts the power to the load, allowing users to easily check the GFCI’s operation.

Furthermore, the PGFM-211-B-A1 Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter offers the added feature of a thermal overload trip feature which will automatically disconnect the load if the current load exceeds the rated value, further protecting personnel and equipment from dangerous overcurrent. This feature is designed to protect the load from overcurrent resulting from high inrush current when starting induction motors.
