PMMA 951LT is a motion sensor, also known as an accelerometer, developed and produced by NXP Semiconductors. It is specially designed for motion detection applications, such as automotive, consumer, industrial, and medical.
The PMMA 951LT accelerometer features a double-sided MEMS sensing element, housed in a package measuring 8mm x 3mm. It offers low-voltage operation from 2.5 V to 3.6 V, and a wide dynamic range of up to ±20g. The sensor allows for operation over a temperature range of -20°C to +105°C and is highly resistant to the effects of shock and vibration. The PMMA 951LT is a single-axis motion sensor.
The working principle of the PMMA 951LT is based on piezoelectric effect. When the sensor is subject to physical motion or stress, two thin plates inside the device experience compression. This results in a piezoelectric effect, where the plates experience a change in their electrical properties that the sensor captures, processes, and sends to the user.
