PQ3RD13 Application Field and Working Principle

The PQ3RD13 is an ultra-low-dropout (ULDO) linear regulator designed for applications requiring ultra-low dropout voltages without compromising on the accuracy of the output voltage. It is a low-power, low-cost, compact, monolithic linear regulator that is ideal for low-voltage, low-power applications like audio amplifiers and mobile phones. VIN can be up to +6.0 V and the output can be adjusted to as low as +1.225 V with very low dropout voltage and extremely low noise, allowing the PQ3RD13 to provide very low-power operation and excellent temperatures stability.The PQ3RD13’s unique feature is that it provides ultra-low dropout voltages with the load current exceed its thermal dissipation limit by a factor of 9, making it very desirable in mobile device applications. Additionally, it is designed to be drop-in compatible with existing linear regulators and improve the efficiency and battery life of mobile devices. The PQ3RD13 is designed for use in low-power, low-voltage and low-dropout applications, such as audio amplifiers, mobile phones, medical devices and other products. It is optimized for current consumption with very low dropout voltage, and works efficiently at very low power consumption levels. The device features adjustable output voltage from 1.2 V to 6 V, using an on-board SPST switch. The PQ3RD13 is ideal for applications where high current loads need to be powered with low noise and low-dropout (VOUT - VIN = 6mV). It also has low internal self-discharge which helps developers design a low battery-discharge solution. The device can be either enabled or disabled via its Enable pin, allowing it to be easily incorporated into power switch circuits. Additionally, the PQ3RD13 is equipped with a power-saving Sleep Mode feature that enables excellent power savings in battery-powered applications. If the load is removed and Enable pin is low, the device automatically shuts down, reducing the current consumption to 0.17µA. This feature allows for substantial power savings in low power applications.The PQ3RD13 provides a high precision output voltage (±1% accuracy) with ultra-low-dropout voltages. It also features fast transient response and excellent temperature stability under varying load and input conditions. Additionally, the device is reverse current and short-circuit protected, making it effectively safe for applications that require high reliability.
