The inductor creates an intensely electromagnetic field, which in turn propels the electrons through the inductor windings in an orderly fashion, thereby generating a magnetic field. This magnetic field is coupled with a second inductor, which extracts the energy from the electromagnetic field. This energy is then transferred to the output side of the converter. The design of the PRF20-Q110-S5N is constructed on a high-efficiency synchronous buck-boost topology for seamless operation over a wide input voltage range. It features a built-in current-mode control oscillation frequency of up to 500 kHz, which helps in achieving high current limits.
