PS9687L2-A is an optocoupler in the Logic Output category. It is used to safely pass digital signals across two electrically isolated points. The photons generated by the LED provide the data transmission path for the device, thus providing the electrical isolation between the input and output circuits.
The PS9687L2-A optoisolator also contains a coupling capacitor which is used to filter out high frequency noise. The capacitor connects from the emitter to the collector of the phototransistor, and it shunts the signal noise and prevents it from propagating further.
